The Historical Society was organized in 1966 and incorporated in 1981. Many of the individuals involved in the creation were members of the Friends of the Library or on the staff of the Falmouth Memorial Library. Over the years a collection of materials has been accumulated and was housed in the Library.  The Society is an independent organization incorporated under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue code as a non-profit corporation devoted to educational, historical and preservation activities. It conforms to the laws of the State of Maine. A revised Constitution was adopted in 2001and complete Bylaws in 2006. The fiscal year begins on July 1 of each year and the Program Year on January 1.  The Society is managed by a Board of Directors.  An annual meeting is held each year in October.The Society Office and Genealogical Center is located in the Whipple Farm House on Homestead Lane Falmouth, ME.
